Just been reading Vic's comments ref when Yarmouth was Derry squadron. although I cannot remember Vic, I remembered many of the times he talked about, like getting changed into civvies on the jetty, going to the Corinthian/embassy dance halls, asking any girl u happen to meet if she was a proddy or catholic, usually a long walk if she was a catholic. I believe the embassy burnt down, not sure when as I returned to Derry in 1968 as leading cook at hms.sea eagle, so it could have been then. when I was on the Yarmouth, if my memory is correct, I was in 6g mess, which was the stokers mess deck, the leading hand of the mess was lme.gibson, as Vic said there were not many runs ashore, only good ones I can remember was when we went to gib and Hamburg, had a great time in both. Vic might remember me as "ringo" it was so long ago I had forgotten I had been called it. like Vic, hope to make the reunion in Yarmouth, maybe see a few faces I know. keep up the good work dusty. Vince Ayres.
