Just found this site, the bit about Tiptoe is not the story we were given! We were told that we got and "killed" her and the OOW was told to signal "dive and restart the exercise" with scare charges, one did not go off and that was come up to periscope depth. As we were motoring there was no chance of avoiding the bumps.
The green rub was the admiral said that we did well to save the ship, but have a rescrub anyway. I did not get to finish a cast iron grand slam in no trumps and my mick was used to block a split in the side.
