Having been on duty at Port Edgar (ex-HMS LOCHINVAR), through the '80s, I observed the activities across the water at Rosyth and noted them down. I was also in the RNXS (Op's) during this period. We came alongside HMS YARMOUTH, when standing off Rosyth just prior to her demise. I now run a website FORTHNAVAL.CO.UK which logs those movements from 1980-1988, with many photographs taken at the time. Hopefully, this might prove of some interest.

HMS Yarmouth supported us for a raid on west Falkland's during the War. (27 & 28th May) Fired 297 rounds, all very accurate. A great ship and a great crew, I spent a lot of time with Yarmouth during the Falkland's. This was not mentioned in the details about what she done. It should of been, as it was a very important raid.

(263) I served as a Junior Radio Operator and cut the Commissioning Cake as the youngest member of the crew after the 1971 refit in Rosyth. Did the work up in Portland then the Far East deployment starting February 1972. Played for the ships football team and was medivac'd back from Singapore in September 1972, after doing my left knee in a match. Remember some of the comms team, Leo Simms, Dave Shanks, Jim Parks, Clive Nash, Harry Harrison, Dolly Gray. Seems a long time ago, but great memories and magic runs ashore.
