Ray's Views & Photies

A Brief Outline of the Run

The misses and I arrived at around 1330 on Friday and our B & B Landlords left us a note saying they'd be back at 1530, so we parked up and had a stroll along the beach, took in a few shops and a coffee break, we then met up with Pete Lloyd at 1520 ish and had a couple of wets in the Somerset Pub.

Later having now booked in the B & B we met up with Big John & Sharon Bryant - Jim & Jane Richardson - Peter Fuller & Big Bill Rothwell in the Lodmoore Pub, had big eats then proceeded to the Clock Tower for 2000 and were joined by Basil & Carol Owen - Steve & Chris Mudd & Pete Lloyd, from there it was but a mere hop skip and a jump to the Somerset Pub.

We learned from Pete Lloyd that Terry Rhodes & Mick Fryatt had a few mishaps with keys, Landlords and mobile phones they duly turned up in 'banyan rig' with a story to tell................... (still a pair of big OD's) ......The evening continued with plenty of ale and a drop of the ole proverbial Rum provided by Big John, whereupon the Queen was toasted  along with ourselves. It was hard to believe that several of us there albeit in our mid 50's were 'UA' and never 'G'. I myself was a sprog of just 18 years old when the Tot was stopped. Nevertheless we continued to open our necks and get it down.

The Saturday morning was for recuperation and a return journey for Jim & Jane Richardson - Pete Lloyd - Terry Rhodes & Mick Fryatt. For the rest of us it was a DTS and  England's first match of the 2006 world cup.

In the evening it was back to the Lodmoore and at around 2000 Martin 'Titch' Arnell and his wife Sue arrived and made welcome. We all then sat down for a meal a few more wets and more stories of old and a very some very interesting information about how the Mob is today, I was personally amazed by the way that 'Risk assessment has reared it's head in the armed forces'...........(Titch has served some 38 years and is just now looking forward to his release).

We all said our goodbye's and promised to keep in touch

All in all I had a marvellous time, this was my first reunion of any kind since leaving the Mob in 1985, and all things being equal it will not be my last...............
